Wale Oyebanjo
MANAGING PARTNER
Wale founded Threadleaf out of his passion for entrepreneurship, business growth and value creation. He began his career as a medical doctor at the University College Hospital (UCH) Nigeria, one of the largest teaching hospitals in Africa, after his bachelor program in Medicine and Surgery (MBBS). During his medical practice, Wale earned the trust of his patients, colleagues and supervisors, leading him to be entrusted with key healthcare transformational projects. In his quest to have first-hand experience in business deal execution and structuring, he made a long-throw transition into an investment banking career. He built a wealth of banking experience spanning advisory in sell-side and buy-side mergers and acquisitions (“M&A”) deals, and debt and equity financing transactions across North America and Africa. Wale has worked in close relationships with leading CEOs in several leading companies across many industries including healthcare, technology and infrastructure.
Wale also previously cofounded a business analysis company focused on providing direct market research, feasibility studies and business analysis to small businesses in southwest Nigeria.
Wale is a people-centric leader and a life-long learner. He holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the Rotman School of Management, University of Toronto, a Master of Commerce in Development Finance (M.Com) from the University of Cape Town, South Africa, and a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (MBBS) from Obafemi Awolowo University, Nigeria. He is also a CFA charterholder.
Wale is a former competitive soccer player who enjoyed coordinating the team from the center as an active midfielder. His ethos is anchored on rolling up his sleeves and getting into the crux of the business.

Duane Phillips
Duane Phillips had a 28-year career with Horsley Bridge Partners, a venture capital and private equity fund-of-funds investment manager with offices in San Francisco, London and Beijing. He retired in 2010 as Chief Operating Officer. From 2000 to 2003, Duane led the development of an enterprise information system for the firm’s investment funds. During his time at Horsley Bridge, the firm raised over US$11 billion. Prior to Horsley Bridge, he was a CPA in Pennsylvania and New York for Arthur Andersen & Co. Duane has a B.A. and an MBA from Cornell University.
